St. Brigid confirmation

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What are the prerequisites for Confirmation?

A: To register for Sacramental Preparation for Confirmation, the candidate must:

  1. Have already received the Sacraments of Baptism and First Communion

  2. Be a registered member of Saint Brigid Catholic Church
(or receive special permission from the pastor of your home parish)

  3. Commit to attending Sunday Mass each week

  4. Attend 2 years of Religious Education before starting the Confirmation Program. At Saint Brigid, this means that the student should either

  • attend Catholic School in 7th/8th grade,

  • attend EDGE in 7th/8th grade, or

  • complete the Independent Study Program for 7th/8th grade EDGE

Q: When should I register my teen for Confirmation?

A: Registration begins each December for current 9th graders, but 10th and 11th graders who have not yet been confirmed are also welcome.

Q: What is the Confirmation program?

A: Confirmation preparation is a year-long program that includes five formation classes in the winter, a four day camp in the summer, and a retreat day in the fall, culminating in the Sacrament of Confirmation, which is typically celebrated late November.

Q: What about Life Teen?

A: Life Teen is not a required part of the Confirmation program, but we strongly encourage all students to participate!

Q: If my child goes to Catholic school, do they still need to go through the Confirmation program?

A: Yes. The Archdiocese of Atlanta gives the responsibility for sacramental preparation to the parish, so Catholic schools do not specifically prepare their students for Confirmation. The program offered at Saint Brigid is designed for all students, regardless of the high school they attend.
