LTE Special Needs Youth  Group

LTE Special Needs Youth Group exists to provide a space where teens and young adults of all abilities feel welcomed, loved, included, and valued as members of our St. Brigid parish community and the universal Catholic Church. It's a place where we can grow in faith and friendship together. Everyone has a place here.

"My son Brett has been part of the LTE program at St Brigid since it first began.  He absolutely loves it!  Even though we have moved to a new parish 30+ miles away, we make the trip down to St Brigid every Monday evening, and it is definitely a highlight of Brett's week.  He has made some wonderful friends through the program and has encouraged other friends to join in.  He loves learning more about our Catholic faith through games, craft projects, stories and songs.  The beautiful LTE Prom that was recently held was one of the most special events he has ever attended.  I love so many things about the program!  First and foremost, ALL participants are treated with respect and dignity as children of God and no one talks down to them.  (Brett has autism, so his communication is impaired, but his intellect is not.)  I have gotten to know other parents through the program over the years, so we are able to share resources with each other.  Having "typical" teens as peers at LTE allows them to see that the "special" participants are more alike than they are different.  I hope and pray that LTE will continue forever and that it will be replicated in parishes across the country."

"Our church is not fully alive unless each individual has the opportunity to participate in the community and the sacraments to the fullest extent of his or her abilities."
